Research shows that experiential learning is a valuable tool to

AFRICAN FRACTALS

 

The honors students of 2013 created an educational  showcase and website highlighting the achievements and contributions of Africans in the Diaspora to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).  Through scholastic research they discovered how the African Diasporan has used STEAM (STEM +Art), embedded within the culture to produce what we today refer to as scientific innovations. 

 

 
 
 
 
AFRICAN MEN CORSETS

 

Culture has always been reflected in fashion however, few have explored the influence of Afriican Corsets upon the fashion world.  This student project examined the influence of Dinka Men's Corsets upon contemporary fashions of designs by Christian Dior and others in the  late 20th century.

LEARNING THROUGH POETRY

 

Students use the arts as a way of enhancing their focus and make meaning in the multiprocessing of complex ideas and perspectives. This student poem ________________won first prize at Mesa College in _______ for its artistic reflection of African Fractals and the knowledge learned about STEM.  This lead to a formal conference presentation.
